Eagle River’s Corey Cogdell, a 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, posted a come-from-behind victory to win skeet shooting gold at the first International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup event of the season on Friday, March 30 in Tuscon, Ariz.

Cogdell, 25, entered the final round in fifth place, but missed just once in the final round (hitting 24 of 25 targets) to pull away from the field with 94 total hits, according to an ISSF press release.

“It feels great to win the first international match of the year, here in [the] USA,” Cogdell said in the release. “This gives me a lot of confidence going into our Olympic team selection match, which will be conducted here in Tucson.”

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be held in May.
