Chugiak, Eagle River players named all-conference
Five local players were named to the 2019-20 All-Cook Inlet Conference hockey team announced following the conclusion of the CIC tournament at Ben Boeke Ice Arena Saturday night.
For Chugiak, defenseman Tyler Huffer was named to the team alongside forwards Luke Momblow and Jarett Beckett. Both forwards scored 20 goals this season; Momblow was fourth in the CIC with 43 total points and Beckett was fifth with 40. Huffer was third among CIC defensemen with 20 points this season, including six goals and 14 assists in conference play.
Two Eagle River Wolves were named to the team, including forward Tay Kurpius and goalie Ryan Gray. Kurpius scored 12 goals and notched eight assists in league play to tie Tucker Lien for the team lead in scoring. Gray started 10 of 14 CIC games during the regular season, posting a 2.79 goals against average and boasted a .912 save percentage in conference play. Gray started all three Eagle River games at the CIC tournament, where he stopped 96 of the 103 shots he faced for a .932 save percentage.
