Wolves skate into the holiday on a high note with third straight win
Eagle River won its third straight game Tuesday behind a pair of goals from Dylan Bender and a solid night from Ryan Gray in net during a 5-1 nonconference high school hockey victory over Service the McDonald Center in Eagle River.
Tucker Lien, Tay Kurpius and Gunnar Sackerson also scored for the Wolves, who scored three times in the final 4:44 of the third period to break open what had been a tight contest.
Gray had a big third period, stopping all 10 shots he faced while also notching an assist on Bender’s goal. The senior finished with 18 saves on 19 shots for the Wolves, who outshot Service 27-19. McKinley Hoff stopped 22 shots for the Cougars.
Eagle River is off until Dec. 3, when the Wolves will host nonconference Colony at 7:15 p.m. at the Mac.
