Mirror Lake students busted for pot, sexual harassment in separate school bus incidents
Mirror Lake Middle School has been having a rough spring.
Police were called to the Chugiak school twice May 8 for reports of criminal incidents on school buses, including a female student who was allegedly caught with a marijuana vape pen and a male student who allegedly grabbed and kissed a girl.
At around 8:44 a.m., a student at Mirror Lake Middle School was caught with a THC oil vape pen after other students told school staff the student had showed the pen to others on the school bus. The student was released to the custody of her mother and charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
At around 11:24 a.m. police received a report that a male MLMS student grabbed a female student while they were riding the bus. The boy allegedly grabbed the girl “on several different places on her body (not on private parts),” according to a synopsis provided by APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad. “The male then kissed the female on the cheek even after she told him to stop.”
Police said the boy was released to his mother and charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The incidents are the latest in a string of police calls related to the school this spring, including three cases since March in which threatening messages were found either at the school or on social media.
