Don’t forget to vote by April 2
Tuesday, April 2, is Election Day for the Municipality of Anchorage and it’s the second year for a mail-in ballot election.
Ballots were sent out on March 12 to every registered voter in Birchwood, Chugiak, Eagle River, Eklutna, JBER and a small part of Muldoon near Boundary and Turpin. Voter turnout has typically been low for local elections so be sure to exercise your right to vote.
We have a chance to elect a school board member from Eagle River, Kai Binkley Sims, and to fill an open seat on the Assembly with an experienced, longtime resident, Crystal Kennedy. David Nees is a conservative running for the other school board seat. There are also several bonds, which if passed will ultimately increase our property taxes.
Please remember to fill out your ballot and mail it by midnight April 2. There is a secure drop box outside of the Eagle River Town Center (library) where ballots can be dropped off by 8 p.m. on April 2 or you can vote there in person March 25 – April 2.
