POLICE BRIEFS: Fights, thefts reported in Eagle River

Shoplifters make off with groceries
On Feb. 11 at around 8 p.m. a man and woman were allegedly spotted stealing a basket of groceries from the Eagle River Carrs store. The couple left in a van, police said.
Screaming leads to arrest
On Feb. 13 at around 2:32 a.m. police were called to the Eagle River Motel for a report of a woman screaming in a room. Police said they arrested Aimee J. Plummer, 42, of Eagle River and took her to the Anchorage Jail for disorderly conduct. She was allegedly intoxicated, police said.
Hallway assault reported
On Feb. 14 at around 12:26 p.m. police said they received a report that a student at Gruening Middle School had punched another student in the head as they passed in the hallway. According to police, the two students were involved in an ongoing dispute. Police said the suspect was released to his mother and charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The student who was punched had visible injuries but did not require medical attention, police said.
On Feb. 16 at around 3 p.m., police received a report that two people had broken into a home on Tedrow Drive through a door on the garage. Police said a woman who was home at the time of the break-in yelled out during the incident and the couple fled with items they grabbed from inside the house.
Storage trailer burglarized
On Feb. 16 at around 3:26 p.m. police received a report that items had been stolen from a storage trailer parked on a property on South Birchwood Loop. Police said the thieves got into the trailer through a door.
Family fight broken up
On feb. 17 at around 1:50 a.m. police were called to a residence on the Old Glenn Highway for a disturbance involving family members. According to police, a juvenile male broke his father’s bedroom door and threatened the father. There were no injuries reported in the incident. Police said charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Man arrested for DUI
On Feb. 17 at around 3 p.m. police stopped a vehicle on Regency Drive for allegedly driving through a stop sign and arrested driver Nicholas M. Busch, 30, of Eagle River for operating under the influence.
