Eagle River outshoots Chugiak

Eagle River rolled to a 7-0 high school riflery sweep over Chugiak on Friday, Nov. 16 at Chugiak in the final regular-season match for both schools.

Ava Perkins led all shooters with a 285 for Eagle River, which also got a 284 from Maddie Bidinger, a 282 from Jonah Wegener and a 280 from Lindsey Foshee. Perkins shot a 100 in prone and also led all shooters with a 97 in kneeling. Foshee tied Chugiak’s Michael Sorensen with a 94 in standing to lead all shooters.

Sorensen was Chugiak’s top shooter with a 277, including a 98 prone and 94 standing.

The Mayor’s 100 shoot is scheduled for Nov. 20-22, with the Region IV shoot Dec. 8 at West High.

Wolves third at A-1 shoot

Eagle River placed third behind a trio of Southside schools at the annual A-1 shoot at Dimond High Saturday.

The event brings together A-team shooters for a final showdown in advance of the Region IV meet.

The Wolves’ Maddie Bidinger shot a 571 to post the day’s third-highest score. South’s Grace Fernandez had the top score with a 577. Jonah Wegener shot a 562 for Eagle River, which got a 561 from Ava Perkins and a 541 from Keith Zachary.
