Cam McDonald is going places.

In the past two years, the former Eagle River Wolves defenseman has gone from Yosemite Drive to the Kenai Peninsula to Muskegon, Michigan. Now, he’s heading to Rhode Island, where he’ll play Division I college hockey at the University of Providence.

On Thursday, McDonald signed a National Letter of Intent with the Hockey East school, which is currently ranked No. 9 in the country according to the most recent USCHO Men’s Ice Hockey poll. McDonald had previously announced his intent to play at Providence, but made the signing official Thursday via his Twitter account.

McDonald played last season with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League. This year he’s playing with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the Tier I United State Hockey League, where he’s scored one goal and has two assists in 13 games played.

At Eagle River, McDonald helped the Wolves to back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2016-17 during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
