Dee Steeby, left our world for her heavenly home, May 30th, 2017 ending her battle with cancer. She passed away quietly at her home with her husband and children at her bedside.
Delores “Dee” (Coots) Steeby was born to Zora “Tick” and Mary Coots on August 22, 1932 on a farm near Oswego, Kansas.
She attended several one room elementary schools in Labette County and graduated high school from Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas.
She married John A. Steeby at the American Embassy in Yokohama, Japan on July 23, 1952. After Japan, they returned to Kansas for about one year before taking their 10 moth old son, John R. to Alaska where they bought a home site and added two more children to their family.
She worked at the Elmendorf AFB, Ft. Richardson in Anchorage and then Chugiak, AK U.S. Post Office retiring in 1989. She and John became full time RVers and traveled extensively through the USA, Canada and an air and train tour of Europe.
She is survived by:

Seven grandchildren: Deana Bistodeau, Heather Doyle, Brenton Steeby, Clayton Steeby, Crystal Steeby, Tiffany Henderson and Hailey Henderson; and four great grandchildren; a brother Carroll “CW Coots and a sister Marcell (Coots) Teehee and a sister-in-law Carole (Steeby) Patterson.
Preceding her in death were her parents Zora “Tick” and Mary Coots, and sister, Bernice Louise, and extended family Glenn & Lucille Steeby, Raymond Steeby, Carl Steeby and Thelma (Steeby) Patterson.
A life celebration ceremony was held at the Oak Haven Apartments, Club House in Shenandoah, Texas on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
