My name is Elijah Lewis, and my fifth-grade class is doing a state research project. I will be doing my research on the great state of Alaska. The project is due at the end of May, and it will cover such topics as famous people from Alaska, your special state traditions and the history of Alaska.

The reason I am writing to you is to ask if you could publish my letter. I am hoping that some of the members of your community would write to me and tell me about their experiences and traditions in Alaska.

I would even enjoy it if they would share their favorite recipes with me. I live in Southern California and am sure many things about Alaska are different from where I live. Also, if any of the citizens could find time to reply, it would be great if they could enclose a copy of my "published" letter.
