Former mayoral candidate pitches budget plan to Assembly
Bob Lupo met with the Anchorage Assembly budget and finance committee Dec. 17 to share his plan to provide property-tax relief and balance the city budget.
He calls for the elimination of property tax for homeowner's and the creation of a 5 percent municipal income tax. Lupo claims his proposal would raise $289 million by taxing all wages earned within the municipality. The income tax would be charged to both municipal residents and those living outside the municipality and working in Anchorage.
