Chugiak High goalie Joey Lindquist can do little to stop the impending powerplay goal off the stick of West's Logan Miller (12) in a tic-tac-toe play across the mouth of the Mustang crease last week. Miller had four goals and one assist as the visiting Eagles defeated Chugiak, 6-1, Nov. 24, at the McDonald Center.

The Chugiak Mustangs didn't get the game they may have wished to remember for the Thanksgiving break, losing to West, 6-1, Nov. 24, at the McDonald Center.

The visiting Eagles took it to the Mustangs from the first drop of the puck, beating Chugiak to the boards, and from end-to-end of the ice sheet.

West scored three goals in the first, pelting Chugiak junior goalie Joey Lindquist with 10 shots, many from right in front, including a power-play goal four minutes in.

The Eagles scored another pair of goals in the second, and one in the third before the host Mustangs finally got on the board with a goal from junior Sean Case, with the assist from Josh Smith, late in the third.

West's Logan Miller finished with four goals and one assist.

The Mustangs have a pair of games this week, 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Ben Boeke, and hosting Lathrop 7:45 p.m. Friday at the McDonald Center.

In the nonleague game with Dimond, held Nov. 4, the Mustangs played the Lynx to a 3-3 draw.

While the high school team enjoyed a five-day reprieve from action, three members of the Chugiak team, along with coach Rodney Wild, took part in the 38th annual Mile High Thanksgiving Tournament held in Littleton, Colorado. There the team won the 10-team tourney, capped by a 5-4 shootout victory in the Sunday finale.

The three Mustangs members of the winning Junior Avalanche U18A team included Shane Topf, Sam Linder and Seth Kollman.
