Trooper's tip to police helps catch drunken driver

An APD officer responded to a call from an off-duty Alaska State Trooper who had saw a red Ford Explorer spin out in the roadway at 3:12 a.m. Nov. 11. The trooper followed the vehicle, which slid off the road near Farm Avenue in Eagle River. The driver, Andrew Stewart, 22 of Eagle River, was arrested for DWI and provided a breath sample yielding more than double the legal limit. He was taken to the Anchorage Jail and released on $500 bail.
