Pot-smoking speeder stopped

Anchorage Police Department officers stopped Leterry Benton, 19, of Palmer, for speeding on the Glenn Highway near the Eklutna exit Oct. 21. Benton was clocked at 82 mph by radar, according to department spokeswoman Anita Shell. The officer smelled marijuana when he approached the car and asked the driver and passengers if they had been smoking. They said yes and produced a partially smoked marijuana cigarette. The officer confiscated the drugs and cited Benton for speeding.
