She loved to travel, and because of Lawrence's 23 years of military service, she was able to move all over the country and even live in Germany for several years.
Lawrence was transferred to Fort Wainwright in December 1967 after a tour of duty in Vietnam. Lawrence and Emma retired from the military to Fairbanks in 1972. They relocated to Eagle River in 2000 in order to be closer to their grandchildren.
Her family wrote, "Emma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a humble soul who loved her family deeply and always put their needs above her own. Emma never complained about anything, was very proud of her family, and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed."
Emma is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence; sons, Marty, Lawrence and Mark Calderone; daughter Rosanne Waters; son-in-law, Patrick Waters; daughters-in-law, Julie Anne and Mary Lou Calderone; grandchildren Vincent, Auna, and Sean Calderone and Vanessa Waters; sister Bernice Marohn.
Condolences may be sent to the Calderone family at P.O. Box 770754, Eagle River, 99577.
