Drunken driver almost hits another car

An Anchorage Police Department dispatcher got several calls at 7:30 a.m. June 30 about a possible impaired driver on the Glenn Highway near North Peters Creek. Callers said the driver nearly struck another vehicle. Police stopped Dean Deater, 55, of Kodiak, and tested his breath alcohol level at 1.5 times the legal limit of 0.08. He was arrested and taken to the Anchorage Jail. Charging documents are pending.

Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilt at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the court.
