Two Anchorage men were injured late Monday night in a collision on the Glenn Highway near the weigh station and one man was arrested for driving under the influence.
James Donaldson, Timothy Permenter and Michael Hipple were driving motorcycles from Eagle River to Anchorage when Donaldson struck the rear of a 2007 Chevy Cobalt driven by Scott Mobley, said Anchorage Police Department Sgt. Michael Bloodgood.
“Donaldson lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in the roadway,” Bloodgood said. “Mobley also lost control of his car and spun into the center median.”
Then, after attempting to avoid both Donaldson and Mobley's vehicles, Permenter crashed, Bloodgood said.
Donaldson was not wearing a helmet but one was in the saddlebag of his motorcycle, according to a police report.
Hipple did not crash and remained on the scene to assist his friends. After being interviewed by police he was arrested for a DUI.
Donaldson and Permenter were transported to Anchorage hospitals, where they were listed in serious and critical condition with head and chest injuries, Bloodgood said.
