Thanks to community for great Alpenglow spaghetti feed

Thank you to everyone who participated and came to the spaghetti feed and silent auction at Alpenglow Elementary on Jan. 16.

I am totally awestruck. This community has gone above and beyond my expectations. It is safe to say the Alpenglow rink is saved due to generous donations. To fully understand what our community just accomplished, we can't limit our focus on just the unbelievable monetary donations.

We would like to thank all the people who solicited funds and auction items from gracious stores and companies; the people who put the silent auction baskets together that the classrooms donated; plus the incredible baskets that people in the community donated for the auction.

The food that was donated was astonishing. What wasn't donated we were able to pick up from the donations from Fred Meyer, Walmart, Carrs and Costco.

People are absolutely remarkable, volunteering for setting up, cleaning and serving. Some of these people weren't even from Alpenglow or the Eagle River community. We had folks from the military, hockey community and missionaries donating their time for our cause. People were calling up wanting to donate this or calling and wanting to help. Some just showed up and said, "I'm here to help. Where do you want me?"

Together, our community made $12,133 in just one fundraiser instead of the 4 large fundraisers we were anticipating. Thank you, Eagle River community.
