Student who smelled of marijuana arrested

The Anchorage Police Department school resource officer at Chugiak High School arrested a student for possession of marijuana on campus Jan. 19. According to police department spokesman Lt. David Parker, the officer smelled marijuana during a conversation in the school. A search of the student revealed a small portion of the drug. The student was arrested and charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree and released to his parents.

Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the courts.
