State affairs committee considers webcams

Aimed at improving access to Alaskans unable to travel to Juneau during the legislative session, Senate Bill 184, sponsored by Sen. Hollis French, D-Anchorage, calls for webcams to be installed in committee rooms at the capitol. The Senate State Affairs Committee held the first hearing of the bill Friday.

"Alaska is the most 'wired' state in the country, and this bill would make sure constituents can have a front-row seat at committee hearings, even if they aren't there in person," said French. "I look forward to working with the Legislative Affairs Agency to bring this technology into the Legislature."
