LIONS CORNER: Tour de Cure can be life changing
Tour de Cure is more than just a cycling event. It’s a life-changing event. A day full of fun and excitement where riders of all levels join forces in the fight to stop diabetes and raise critical funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy in support of the American Diabetes Association.
The tour is a ride, not a race. Whether you are an occasional rider or an experienced cyclist, there is a route just for you. All of the routes feature breathtaking views of the Chugach Mountains, Turnagain Arm and Knik Arm. Multiple award-winning trail systems are utilized to make this one of the most desirable rides in the country! Alaska is a perfect place to get out and ride. Take advantage of this great feature in Anchorage while helping us stop diabetes.
Do you or someone you know have diabetes? Thousands of people with diabetes participate in the tour as “Red Riders.” Red Riders are the reason we ride — they are given a jersey to proudly wear on the day of the event. Beyond the recognition, Red Riders are part of a community that inspires us to ride and raise money to stop diabetes. Be sure to choose Red Rider when you register!
All routes are fully supported with SAG vehicles, fully stocked rest stops, and route marshals. Lunch will be provided after your ride thanks to Subway and will be served by your local Lions organizations! (Gluten free meals will be provided for those who need them.)
Join us at the Park Strip in Anchorage, where Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions will be handing out drinks and Subway sandwiches. This year’s event is June 2. The cost is $30 and online registration closes June 1. For more information or to register, visit diabetes.org.
