Community Cleanup celebration, Free Dump Days upcoming
Spring cleaning was never so much fun.
The Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Anchorage Chamber for a citywide cleanup celebration Saturday, April 27 in Town Square Park in Eagle River.
The event will feature a cleanup followed by a volunteer barbecue and beer garden sponsored by Jalapeno’s restaurant.
People can pick up orange trash bags at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union between 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday — the more bags collected, the more tickets people can get for a prize raffle at the free barbecue, which starts at 6 p.m.
“We’ll have prizes and lots of cool stuff,” chamber executive director Debbie Rinckey said during the chamber’s biweekly luncheon forum last week at the Matanuska Ale House.
Rinckey said the chamber is working with Bin There, Dump That to dispose of the trash that’s collected.
The Anchorage citywide cleanup runs April 27 through May 4. The event is held in conjunction with the Municipality of Anchorage’s Free Dump Days, which this year are Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the landfill off Eagle River Loop Road near the Hiland Road exit.
