Eagle River’s Slocombe siblings are getting stinking rich.

For the second time in the last three years, the nation’s smelliest shoes are from the same Eagle River household after 15-year-old Senneca Slocombe was named the Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest Tuesday at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Times Square in New York City.

Slocombe was one of seven national finalists for the annual contest, which awarded her a $2,500 grand prize for winning.

“The regional winners admitted to wearing no socks, stepping in slop of all sources, and even claimed their dogs love to chew on their stinky shoes,” the company wrote in a press release announcing the award.

The victory marks the third straight for a competitor from Eagle River. Slocombe’s brother, Connor, won the award in 2017, while Hunter Hamm won in 2018.

According to Odor Eaters, Slocombe “confessed that her sneakers got dirty and smelly because she wore her sneakers for 1-1/2 years running, playing sports, plus her brother’s dog enjoys chewing them up.”

In addition to the cash prize, Slocombe also received an additional two-night stay in New York, tickets to the Broadway show “Aladdin,” the Golden Sneaker Award and a supply of Odor-Eaters products.

Slocombe qualified for the national contest by winning the local Rotten Sneaker Contest at the 2018 Bear Paw Festival in Eagle River.
