Wolves keep rolling in prep bowling
Better watch out for the big, bad Wolves.
Eagle River’s undefeated high school bowling teams rolled to another Anchorage Scholastic Bowling League sweep Thursday at the Eagle River Bowl.
The defending ASBL champion girls defeated West 35-0, with Allison Szewczyk leading her team with a 224 — the top score of the day by any bowler. The Eagle River boys also defeated West, with Brenden Iaulualo firing a team-best 211.
The Eagle River girls are seeing their third straight league title and fifth in the past six seasons, while the Eagle River boys — who finished second last year — are hoping to win their second ASBL crown in three seasons.
The Chugiak girls also picked up a big win Thursday, beating South 29-6 behind a team-high 201 from Jadyn Moore. In the boys match, Dillon Dittbrenner had a team-high 174 for Chugiak, but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs fell 29-6.
Thursday’s matches were make-ups from a previous match this season that had to be postponed due to bad roads. The event featured a special appearance by the Eagle River mascot.
Scholastic bowlers are off until Jan. 10, when Chugiak will face Dimond and Eagle River will take on Bartlett at Center Bowl in Anchorage. Matches start at 3:15 p.m.
