Mayor to host community quake meeting

Municipal, state and school officials including Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz will attend a community meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 in the multipurpose room at Alpenglow Elementary to discuss impacts from the Nov. 30 earthquake.

Berkowitz will be joined by municipal manager Bill Falsey, Anchorage Economic and Community Development director Christopher Schutte and the muni’s Chief Financial Officer Alex Slivka. Also scheduled to attend are Alaska Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management director Mike Sutton and other state representatives as well as Anchorage School District Superintendent Dr. Deena Bishop.

The mayor’s office is hosting the event, which will give members of the public an opportunity to ask questions about issues such as earthquake recovery, structural inspections, options for individual disaster relief, school impacts and more.
