Eagle River world traveler Helen Wilson is sticking close to home for college.

The globetrotting biathlon star has signed on to ski with the University of Alaska Anchorage Noric ski team starting in the 2019-20 season.

“Helen is one of the strongest in her Alaska class, and we are looking forward to working with her towards her athletic goals,” UAA coach Andrew Kastning said in a press release announcing Wilson’s signing.

Wilson is one of the top junior biathletes in the country. She’s been a member of two U.S. teams at the Youth World Championships, helping Team USA to a 17th place finish in the relay at the 2017 championships in Slovakia and an 18th place finish at the 2018 world championships in Estonia. Earlier this year she won the youth mass start race at the U.S. Biathlon Championships to claim her first national title.

“She is definitely someone to watch in the years to come,” Kastning said.
