Prep volleyball squads drop matches as CIC regular season winds down

Chugiak and Eagle River dropped Cook Inlet Conference volleyball matches Tuesday, with Chugiak falling 3-2 (25-13, 19-24, 20-25, 25-22, 8-15) to West and Eagle River getting swept by first-place Dimond.

The Mustangs got 18 kills from Isabelle Kaltschnee and 12 from Sophia Lestina in their loss at Chugiak. Claire Schimmack had 20 assists for the Mustangs, who wrap up their CIC season at 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Bartlett.

Liz Ruehle had 18 assists and 13 digs for the Wolves, who got 18 digs and four aces from Kaylee Barch and eight kills from Landy McGee. Alissa Pili had nine kills to lead the Lynx in the 25-8, 25-15, 27-25 win.

The CIC tournament begins Tuesday at the home schools of the four highest-seeded teams. Brackets will be released following the conclusion of the regular season Thursday.
