Mustangs net back-to-back CIC volleyball wins

Chugiak reeled off back-to-back Cook Inlet Conference volleyball wins Sept. 25-26, knocking off crosstown rival Eagle River in four sets Tuesday at Chugiak and doing the same to West Wednesday in Anchorage.

Against the Wolves, Chugiak got 17 kills and 19 digs from Sophia Lestina and 30 digs and five aces from Kaitlyn Eastman to earn a 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 25-9 win. Claire Schimmack added 27 assists and 14 digs for the Mustangs.

Landry McGee tied Lestina with a match-high 17 kills for Eagle River, which got 24 digs and three aces from Kaylee Barch and a 10-kill/10-dig performance from Shelby Dunn.

On Wednesday, Eastman racked 11 kills and five aces in the Mustangs’ 3-1 win over the Eagles. Isabelle Kaltschnee had nine kills and 18 digs for Chugiak, which also got 31 assists and two aces from Claire Schimmack.

Eagle River hosts South and Chugiak travels to East on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:15 p.m.
