Eva Palmer threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Chasity Horn midway through the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Eagle River. It would be a recurring theme.

Horn scored four touchdowns, Palmer had three and the Mustangs rolled to a second straight rout of Eagle River with a 57-0 Cook Inlet Conference flag football win at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium. Chugiak defeated Eagle River 47-0 last week at the Wolves’ Den.

Horn had touchdown runs of 7, 50 and 55 yards for the Mustangs, while Palmer twice scored on quarterback sneaks and caught an 18-yard pass from Horn on the game’s final possession.

Mariah Perish also scored a touchdown for the Mustangs (3-7), who have won three straight CIC games after losing six straight to start the season. Eagle River fell to 0-10.

Aurora Phlegar had two interceptions for Chugiak Saturday, and both led to touchdowns.

Both teams have four CIC games remaining this season. Eagle River hosts East at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, the same night Chugiak hosts first-place Dimond at 7:30 p.m.
