A man wanted for robbing a woman at gunpoint in an Eagle River park during a drug deal gone bad has been captured.
An Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman confirmed Austin Sala, 19, was taken into custody on Thursday, April 26. According to APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad, officers were with Juvenile Probation officers serving a warrant on Husky Street. During the call, Oistad said the officers contacted Sala and discovered he had outstanding warrants. He was taken to Anchorage Jail.
A warrant for first-degree robbery was issued for Sala after he allegedly robbed the woman in a vehicle parked at Schroeder Park at around 7 p.m. on April 12. According to police, the woman met Sala to buy marijuana, but instead he pointed a gun at her and took her money.
