APD seeks murder suspect between Anchorage, Mat-Su

UPDATE (9:30 p.m., Friday, April 6): APD said Friday afternoon that murder Suspect Samson Costigan was taken into custody by the departmetn's Investigative Support Unit. The department did not provide any details about how Costigan was taken into custody, but said he was being questioned by detectives. 


The Anchorage Police Department is searching for a murder suspect believed to be traveling between the city and the Mat-Su. 

According to an APD Nixle alert, Samson Costigan, 39, is wanted in a Mach 16 homicide in the Jewel Lake area of Anchorage. Police said Friday Costigan is thought to be armed and dangerous and might be hiding out betwween Anchorage and the Valley. 

Anyone who spots Costigan or knows his wherabouts is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (907) 561-7867. 

According to police, Costigan shot 28-year-old Jacob Stough in the chest on March 16. A warrant for his arrest was issued March 19.
