PREP HOCKEY: Eagles get the best of Eagle River
For the second straight Cook Inlet Conference hockey game, Eagle River pulled off a third-period comeback Monday night at the McDonald Center — only this time, the opposition had an answer.
The Wolves tied the game at 1-1 with 9:13 left in the third period on a power play goal by Ty McEnaney off an Ian Newman assist.
But the score didn’t hold up, as West took the lead for good on Cyril Boots’s second goal of the game with 5:04 to go and the Eagles on a power play of their own. Revy Mack added an insurance goal with eight seconds left for West, which improved to 4-1-0 in the CIC and won its fourth straight game.
Ryan Gray stopped 19 shots for Eagle River, which fell to 2-3-0 in the conference.
The Wolves are off until Thursday, Nov. 30, when they’ll host first-place Dimond at 7:15 p.m. at the Mac.
